Knowing how to clean up lube can save you and your employees from a lot of potential problems. You don’t want to be caught unawares when your catering truck or service vehicle runs into oil spillage, or when your employees run into slippery floor surface, or when a customer falls and gets a nasty gash. Clean up lube is especially important at corporate events, weddings, balls, and other occasions where there will be a lot of people around. Here’s how to do it correctly.
Wet Find it Gentle is a great toy cleaner for removing solvent based spills from plastic sheets. But it’s just the best choice for removing oil stains from clothing and/or sheets. Pjur Med Clean is another great toy cleaner which works well on oiled lube stains. You just need to use something like De SOLv-It on the stained area. Start at the edge of the spot and work your way toward the middle. Use the soft wd-40 pad and gently rub the effected area until the stain comes off.
Silicone Stains Dealing with hot silicone stains isn’t as easy as cleaning it with water-based cleansers. Silicone dries extremely fast, so you have to make sure to follow the instructions carefully when cleaning the stained area with one of these cleaners. First, get a small amount of silicone cleaner and spray it on the affected area. Make sure to allow the area to air dry before scrubbing it. Lube Oil Stains The simplest method for dealing with oily or lube stains is to use water-based cleansers. These cleansers work very well with seeping oil stains. The only problem with these cleansers is that they can strip the grease away from the lube. If you are looking for a long-term solution to lube maintenance, consider cleaning your car with water-based products such as Clean and Dry or Simple & Clean Auto Detailing products.
Cleaning the Lubricated Parts
There are two ways to do this. One way is to use the silicone-based lube product that was mentioned above – DeSOLv-IT or Clean & Dry. This is an excellent way to remove oil and grease stains, and is the recommended cleanser for alloys (aluminum, copper, stainless steel, magnesium – based lubes). Another option is to contact a car repair or de-greaser specialist and have them clean the parts for you.
Toy Cleaners How to clean up lube with silicone – based toy cleaner? This can be accomplished using a regular household detergent. The key to this solution is to mix in one part water to three parts of dry soap – very similar to laundry soap. Then add in your favorite type of toy cleaner (baby shampoo works well, or dishwasher liquid) and let it sit overnight. In the morning, follow up with a strong, antibacterial disinfectant, such as Dawn to remove any residue from the cleaning solution.
Dries Quickly Drying the toy cleaner will require some additional steps. The easiest is to set the dryer to “air-dry” and to spray the silicone lube between the gaps of the plastic sheets. Allow to dry until it becomes nearly dry. The second best approach is to apply some paper towels to the item. Which is effective both in removing excess moisture and drying it quickly. The absolute best option is to purchase and use an all natural, pH balanced cleanser. This is made especially to clean up silicone stains and oils, and it’s very safe and non-toxic. Be sure to follow the cleaning instructions on the label, but most good brands are safe enough to eat! The safest approach to removing these stubborn oils is to wear a pair of latex gloves. The product into small areas (like the toy part), and then rinse with warm water to remove the oil.
