If you are in the market for braces and have the money to get them, one of the first decisions you’ll have to make is what color you want your braces to be. This can be surprisingly difficult because there are so many cute braces colors to choose from! We’ve done some research on what colors are most popular in 2022 and come up with a few of our own suggestions based on our favorite colors! Here’s what we found out!
White
According to a survey done by Fairfield Orthodontics, white is currently and will continue to be popular because of its versatility. The color looks great on everyone and it goes with everything. With millions of possible combinations, white is an easy choice when considering braces colors that are most popular. If you’re thinking about getting braces, consider getting your braces in white! In fact, we recommend it! Here’s what Fairfield Orthodontics says: We tell our patients if they get their teeth whitened first before getting orthodontic treatment with us, we can have them close all their other gaps from day one, meaning less time to complete treatment. There are also several TV celebrities who wear white braces as well!
Platinum
On top of being a popular metal when it comes to jewelry, platinum is one of the best metals for braces. The more metal used to make your braces, like Invisalign, or traditional metal braces, means more precision required during treatment and much greater durability and strength. With that said, since consumers want their power chain bracelets to be shiny (and look good on social media!), you can assume they’ll want a material that has high luster as well; which means that platinum could be one of your biggest selling points.
Gold
The go big or go home attitude has always been a trend with adults, but it has trickled down to teenagers as well. Gold braces are used by trendsetters everywhere. The shiny yellow color of gold is an attention grabber and makes a bold statement that you have money and don’t mind showing it off. If you have enough money to afford gold braces, chances are you will have no problem attracting attention from people wherever you go.
Rose Gold
People love rose gold because it’s pretty, feminine and delicate looking. If you’re going with something like a traditional metal bracket (not plastic), you may want to go with rose gold. Even if your teeth are straight, you can still pull off these lighter colors without making yourself look childish. As braces technology becomes more advanced, there is an increasing number of ways to customize them to match your personality and style. The beauty of today’s braces is that there are many color options available to fit every type of patient and activity.
Dark Blue
In line with a growing trend toward darker, more dramatic makeup looks, we’ll start to see people gravitate toward shades of blue and purple on their teeth. Think Beyoncé’s baby-blue lipstick, Nicki Minaj’s dark purple hue and Kylie Jenner’s teal gloss. Similarly, we can expect a rise in shade matching—which is already starting to happen with power chain braces like Embrace Power Chain Bracelets. And if you’re worried about color clashes with your outfits or clothes? You don’t have to be: it’s not unusual for patients to go between all sorts of colors as part of their treatment process. If you’re thinking about wearing brighter colors, but aren’t sure where to start, our dentist will be able to help!
On top of that, different types of materials lend themselves better to certain shades than others. We recommend discussing which ones are best suited for your desired result with your orthodontist. What should I look out for when choosing my new color? When choosing what color would suit you best, it’s important to remember that each one has its own level of visibility under different lighting conditions. For example, a lighter shade might appear brighter under natural light than one that’s darker in tone; similarly a lighter color may appear less intense against pale skin than against tanned skin.
Black
The new black-again, really. Black and white are making a resurgence as the classic colors of orthodontics and won’t be usurped by any other color anytime soon. In fact, due to their clean look, teeth with white or black braces tend to stand out over those with colorful bands. If you want to keep your brace as neutral as possible so it’s not calling attention to itself, consider choosing a color that matches your skin tone. For example, if you have very fair skin, go with a pure white band; if you have darker skin than many of your peers, use black braces instead of white ones.
Brown
By 2022, it’s projected that brown will no longer be considered an unusual color to see on a person wearing braces. It was only recently accepted as a normal color and by 2022, it will have been an acceptable color for several years. Even though it’ll still be relatively rare compared to other colors, people won’t be so surprised or judgmental of those who are sporting their natural brown hues instead of going with something more standard like black or white. Other colors are also expected to rise in popularity, but none nearly as much as brown is expected to increase over time. People around Kansas City often say that you shouldn’t judge someone based on their braces, but sometimes it’s hard not to when you’re seeing something out of place like bright reds or yellows.
Red
As a result, it’s important to choose colors and accessories that will help counteract any feelings of embarrassment. That said, red is perhaps one of most bold colors out there—and therefore a great option if you’re looking to make a strong style statement. Pairing your braces with something bright and colorful might also help boost confidence levels. For example, try choosing a pair of power chain braces in red and wearing them with an all-black outfit. The contrast between these two hues should draw attention away. From your mouth area and toward other parts of your outfit.
Navy Blue
Last year’s color, navy blue braces are trending up again. Some people say they feel more sophisticated and stand out. While others say they attract less attention than red or green braces. Making them more suitable for patients who want a professional look but don’t want to attract attention from peers. However, if you’re hoping to build awareness around your business, red or green may be better colors to choose. Last year’s color, navy blue braces are trending up again.
