Lyft is a ridesharing app that might make it easier for you to move around. Lyft can save you time and money, whether it’s as a more convenient, less expensive option to taxis or as a replacement for owning a car. However, in some instances, you may want to cancel or delete Lyft account and stop receiving Lyft notifications.
Perhaps you prefer Uber or have determined that a service like Zipcar is more appropriate for your requirements. Whatever your reason for wanting to delete your Lyft account, this article will explain you how to do so and what information Lyft will keep after you’ve done so.
Why to delete Lyft account?
While Lyft allows you to deactivate your account, certain information about you is retained even after your account is deleted. According to Lyft’s Terms of Service:
In effect, this implies that even if you remove your account, Lyft will keep the following information:
- Your name, email address, and phone number are required fields.
- Any information you entered into the Lyft app (such as a photo)
- Payment information and method
- Information about the Lyft device you’re using
- Lyft driver reviews and ratings
- When using Lyft, you’ll be able to see where you’re going.
- Customer service interactions with Lyft Information you provided when applying to be a Lyft driver (even if your application was rejected)
The major reason they keep your information is so that if you join up for the service again, you won’t have to go through the same sign-up procedure again. You agreed to this policy when you joined up for the service, whether you think it’s fair or not.
How to Delete Lyft account?
Approach customer support
You’ll need to input your Lyft account’s email address and phone number, as well as a subject for your request (something basic like “Deleting my account” will suffice).
Then, under “What can we help you with?” you must opt to delete your account. To do so, click the arrow to the right of the box, then select “Profile and account settings” from the drop-down menu. After you’ve completed the steps above, you should be presented with a form that looks like this:
You must fill out the “Description” area with a reason for wanting to deactivate your account. You need not to provide a lengthy or detailed explanation. “I no longer want to utilise the service,” for example, will suffice. Simply check the box next to “I’m not a robot” and hit “Submit” after you’ve completed the description of why you’re quitting Lyft.
Within a couple of days of submitting your support request, you should receive a response confirming that your account has been deactivated. If you haven’t received a response, write an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Unsubscribe from Lyft Emails
You will not immediately unsubscribe from Lyft promotional emails if you delete your Lyft account. After all, the company wants to win you back as a customer, which includes offering you discounts in exchange for returning to the service. You’ll need to file a separate support request to unsubscribe if you don’t want to receive these emails (which we assume you don’t because you canceled your account).
To unsubscribe, go to Lyft’s website and go to the “Submit a request” page, which may be find here.
Click “Profile and account settings” as the response to “What can we assist you with?” after entering in your email, subject, and phone number. Then select “Delete account or unsubscribe” from the drop-down menu.
Fill in the “Description” section with whatever makes sense, then click “Submit” to ensure you’re not a robot. This will begin the process of removing you from all Lyft email subscriptions. As you can saw in the screenshot above, unsubscribing from Lyft can take up to 10 days, so don’t shock if you continue to receive emails from the firm before that time has elapsed.
Of course, if you don’t want to receive any of the company’s emails in the meanwhile, you can always designate them as spam (though there’s nothing stopping you from doing so even if you don’t want to delete them).
Similarly, you can Delete Doordash account from your device.
Although deleting your Lyft account isn’t the easiest task in the world, it is doable in only a few steps. Overall, the procedure isn’t as unpleasant or tough as it could be; at the very least, you won’t have to contact Lyft.
